Meet the Author:

Laurie Wetzel has always had a passion for writing, but it wasn’t until a New Years Resolution in 2011 that she finally shared her lifelong dream of being

Laurie Wetzel an author with her husband. He read the very first draft of Unclaimed and gave her the words she needed to hear, “This is what you need to be doing.” Three years later the first book in the Unclaimed series was published with the second book expected to be out in 2015. Laurie lives in Mankato, MN, with her husband and two young sons. When she’s not writing, working, or spending time with her family, she’s either reading, running, or catching up on her favorite shows on Netflix.

My Review of Unclaimed:

Unclaimed is a YA fiction about the discovery of a young girl learning about herself and her special gifts.  Initially feeling unimportant and kind of forgotten by all, but as the story unfolds Maddy learns how truly special and necessary she is in the lives of others.  I think that’s a great lesson for young people today.  To help them recognize their worth in this world.  Even though Maddys’ situation is “Unique” It still sends a good message to young adults today.
I love the book design. The design made me curious to know the meaning of the feather  on fire as shown on the cover. After reading the book you really understand the design.  It is simple but intriguing. Additionally, I am a sucker for simple black and white with a pop of red. I love that look. Easy to read and flows really well.
It was fun to get to know the characters throughout the book.  There was suspense, and I love that the story line was not predictable.  You begin to understand Maddy  better as the story goes along.  Also, I love that throughout the book some chapters where from Maddy’s perspective and then would switch from time to time to the perspective of MJ and Justin.  It kept it interesting and you could see the differences in how each character saw the situation.  Because of that it kept me always thinking and wondering how each character would react and handle the upcoming conflicts.
I truly fell in love with the story and am anxiously awaiting the next installment in this series.  A definite good fun read.

Bound By Spells by Stormy Smith

Aidan Montgomery hadn’t been prepared for Amelia Bradbury to walk in and then out of his life. He also hadn’t expected to find the powerful magic hidden deep within him for the last nineteen years, but he’s embracing it — finding more control and more answers every day. Now, with the help of Amelia’s best friend, Bethany, Aidan is on a quest to understand his destiny and find Amelia.
Amelia decided to stand by her duty, which meant walking away from her first chance at love. Trapped in Cresthaven at the Queen’s mercy, she spends her days with Micah — an ally she still holds at arm’s length — struggling to manage her heartbreak while keeping her mind focused on the task at hand. As she continues to unlock the secrets of the Keeper power, Queen Julia’s true motives reveal themselves, forcing Amelia to decide, yet again, how much she’s willing to sacrifice.
Will Aidan get to Amelia before it’s too late, or will the very power that sustains them keep them apart?

Rainee Review:

Stormy did it again! I love, love, love this series!  I was hooked after reading her first book in the bound series ‘Bound by Duty’ and was so excited to read ‘Bound by Spells’… It certainly did not disappoint! Stormy created such a fun world of magic and Mages and Anti-mages!  I think she does a fantastic job of “sucking” the reader into this world and making you just fall in love with the characters.

In this book, the reader is taken further into the story of Amelia and Aiden and their discovery of their separate powers and how the responsibility they each have to control them and use them for good. They also realize the are far more important to each other than either of them had suspected before. Although they are separated from one another most of this book, they find ways to be together in dreams and thought.

Throughout this story, I have been touched as I read about the love of an older brother to his sister, the sacrifices mothers and fathers make for their children, the unbreakable bond of family and best friends that try to understand and forgive. Although this is a book of fiction, these are such important relationship lessons for us all.

I really love everything about this book from the cover of the book – showing Aiden and his blue eyes – to being drawn in from the very first chapter until the end of the book which left me wanting more and excited to see what will happen next!  This series is full of excitement, love, friendship, and discovery!  I cant wait to read her next installment of this series!

Thank you, Stormy, for taking me again into this wonderful world you have created in the Bound books… No surprise,  I rate it  5 stars !

Destiny’s Past (1st book in the Trilogy):

No-nonsense medical examiner, Kelly Richards, relies on the familiar comforts of science and scalpels to get her through the day.
